Sacraments of Initiation

Sacrament of Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation completes the grace of Baptism by a special outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Through this sacrament we receive the strength and comfort of the Holy Spirit to help us meet the challenges and demands we may face as mature Christians.
Preparation for the reception of the sacrament ordinarily takes place during the young person’s 10th grade. A prerequisite is participation in the parish Faith Formation Program or attendance at a Catholic school. The candidate will have been in one of the above programs for a full year so as to prepare for the Confirmation program.

The immediate preparation for the sacrament begins with an orientation of small group leaders and two parent/candidate meetings in December. The preparation process consists of six small group meetings, a retreat, a service project, a rehearsal for and reception of the sacrament.
