Foreign Language Teacher - French

St. Mary's High School announces an opeing for a Foreign Language Teacher of French for the 2018-2019 academic year. This is a full-time faculty position in a Catholic, co-educational, college-preparatory setting. Candidate should have an active faith life and an informed understanding of the mission of the Roman Catholic Church and the many ways that mission applies to the formation of young men and women in a Catholic school setting. The candidate must be qualified to teach French I-V courses. 

Qualifications: 
Bachelor's Degree required
Maryland certification required
Secondary teaching experience preferred

SMHS Assistant Athletic Director
St. Mary's High School, a co-educational school of 500 students in grades 9-12, seeks an Assistant Athletic Director to begin in June, 2018.

The Assistant Athletic Director is responsible for assisting the Athletic Director in the operation and management of a comprehensive and successful athletic program consisting of 36 boys and girls teams. Responsibilities include assisting in the day to day operations and preparation of the various sports programs. Teams compete in the (IAAM) Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland, Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) and Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA) Conferences. Candidates will be committed to continuing excellence in athletics in the context of a strong academic program and clear-cut Catholic identity.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, masters preferred. Applicants should have a background in sports, strong leadership and communication skills and demonstrate a commitment to the success of student athletes on and off the field. This position will report to the Athletic Director at St. Mary's. Candidates must understand and support the values and mission of St. Mary's High School.

Open position for Part Time Administrative Assistant
Position for the Chief Financial Officer and the President of the School. Position is 20 hours per week.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  •  Provide general administrative and clerical support including mailing, scanning, faxing   and copying to management
  •  Maintain electronic and hard copy filing system
  •  Open, sort and distribute incoming correspondence

Director of Technology and School Strategic Initiatives
 
Position Summary:
While working as a team member of the Information Technology Office, the Director of Technology and School Strategic Initiatives primary job responsibility is to serve as the “point person” in the development and support of the use of information technologies in all aspects of the educational process as well as school and parish productivity and communication. These responsibilities include researching, recommending, promoting, and providing training for existing and emerging technologies and guiding their integration into the curriculum and in enhancing instructional, productivity, and communication strategies. As the driver of technology advancement, coordination, and support, the Director manages and communicates the “big picture” technology vision of the parish and schools while supporting day-to- day steps to get there.

As a visionary for school strategic initiatives, the Director not only promotes meaningful and relevant technology use but is also responsible for aligning innovative curriculum and unifying the culture across the elementary school and high schools. Expectations include being a critical ally to principals in the implementation of programmatic, curricular, financial, operational, and administrative initiatives. The Director supports school principals to promote collaboration, vertical alignment of curriculum, and best instructional and programmatic practices for 21 st century teachers and learners. Ultimately, the Director of Technology and School Strategic Initiatives fosters unity and innovation as well as coordinates efforts to effectively evaluate and improve upon existing practices from a whole-school standpoint.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • primary contact for technology-related services for school and parish; regularly consults with contracted network engineers and Database Administrator to determine school and parish needs regarding technology services
  • supporting all aspects of the 1:1 iPad Program including evaluation, maintenance, development, and communication
  • motivating and facilitating faculty to use innovative applications of technology in evolving styles of teaching, learning, and assessment through in-service training and one-on- one support to faculty
  • assist in the planning and implementation of a long-range technology and school plan to incorporate the use of present and emerging technologies and programs that are designed to support, extend, and enhance the teaching and learning process
  • locating, previewing, and recommending new equipment, software, and practices
  • consulting on and executing budgetary and purchasing issues regarding technology
  • collaborating with Advancement Office to acquire grants and donations for technology initiatives

  • participating in technology conferences and educational opportunities to update awareness of current software, hardware, and educational trends as well as current trends in school development
  • modeling sound technology-infused pedagogy and effective use of technology in assessment practices
  • working closely with academic department heads and administrators to ensure that technology initiatives are regularly evaluated and consistent with the goals of the departments and schools
  • building a strong base of program support among students, faculty, administration, and parents through close communication and collaboration
  • driving effective integration and use of information systems, especially the learning management system and website, among constituents
  • supporting faculty and staff as the on-site contact for technology help when contracted engineers are off site
  • exposing administration and faculty to emerging trends in curriculum and instruction (STEM Education, project-based learning, student-centered classroom, learning labs/innovation spaces)
  • assisting with a strategic plan for elementary and high schools to encompass current and foreseeable educational trends
  • providing cross-division opportunities for training as well to promote collaboration
  • regularly meeting with school administrators to discuss vision and strategic steps for attaining progress
  • reporting to President and School Board on the state of innovation and forward progress in schools
  • evaluating existing practices (such as scheduling, online learning, outside partnerships) to maximize student learning opportunities and to leverage salaries
  • analyzing metrics through surveys to tailor practices to constituents’ needs
  • direct and coordinate the St. Isidore Cyber Program
