makeFashion Showcase

Congratulations to Kelsey Cashman for winning the makeFashion Showcase with her LED Light Jacket!  All St. Mary’s students--7th graders Amelia Clemens, Charlotte Burgess, Jessica Groblewski and Kaitlyn Alsina, and 6th graders Rex McAllister and Andrew Tollefson--represented us extremely well! The judges ranged from the CEO of Anne Arundel Public Library, the manager of the mall, experts from tech companies, artists, and more—many commented on the poise, confidence, and talent of our students.

makeFashion is a program of the Anne Arundel County STEM Festival which will showcase original high tech or wearable electronic creations made by local residents. High-tech fashion uses science and technology to aid in the design and production of apparel and other fashion products. Designers, artists and developers use chemistry, computer science, aerospace engineering, automotive engineering, architecture, industrial textiles, and competitive athletic wear to create their products. High tech fashion can include jewelry or accessories made from 3D printers, apparel featuring working circuits and actual computers housed in the layers of fabric.
