3D Printed Protective Gear for Health Care Providers

Reine Saint Amour ’21 was talking with her father at dinner about what they could do to help others during the COVID- 19 pandemic while there is a shortage of supplies. They found information about a team of doctors who designed and coded masks with 3D printers to keep health care workers and first responders stay safe. Reine proposed that her father ask to use St. Mary’s printers and—through her show of empathy—began a movement. Every person can make a difference, and it is working together that we can navigate these challenging times and we can BE THE GOOD in this world.

St. Mary’s High School, St. Mary’s Elementary School and four other schools are sharing their 3D printers with Mr. Saint Amour from Eclipse Group to produce masks for health care workers. The team using twenty-one 3D Printers, including those of two families who are printing at home, are now making an average of sixty-three Montana Masks a day.

Included with each masks given to the health care workers serving others during the COVID-19 pandemic is the following note from the schools, companies and families who have collaborated in this movement:

Dear Superhero,

You are not alone. When you put on this protective wear, know that it was made with love and that we are there with you. We are staying home and using the resources we can gather to produce something that we hope will keep you safe. Our families and loved ones are depending on you and know you can depend on us. We are praying for you and we are grateful for your servant leadership.

May God bless you and keep you.
