Joanna How Appointed St. Mary’s Head Varsity Girls Soccer Coach

St. Mary’s High School has named Joanna How as the new head coach of the varsity girls soccer team effective immediately. How, who served as head coach of the JV girls soccer team last fall, will replace Sarah Molina, who led the team for the last three years.

"I am excited to announce Joanna How as our new varsity girls soccer coach,” said St. Mary’s Athletic Director Allison Fondale. “Joanna coached three sports this past year at St. Mary's and has proven herself to be committed, dedicated and competitive. She is hard working and I believe will hold our soccer athletes to a high standard."

"Joanna How brings experience and enthusiasm to the position of head coach,” added St. Mary’s High School Principal Mindi Imes. “Ms. How cares about the success of our program and every young lady on the team."

How has over ten years of experience developing athletes, specializing in the advancement of athletes’ technical and fundamental skills as well as improving overall performance, knowledge and understanding of the sport. In 2017, How founded Athlete Performance & Training (AP&T), a program designed to take athletes to the next level through specific training regimens including weight and endurance training, competition preparation and performance psychology for multiple sports including track and field, soccer and lacrosse.

How previously served as a soccer coach for SONESOCCER, a New Jersey Soccer Group, assistant varsity and middle school soccer coach and assistant varsity winter track coach for the Pingry School in Bernards Township, New Jersey. In addition to acting as the head JV girls soccer coach last fall, How is the assistant coach for St. Mary’s High School’s indoor and outdoor track and field teams and coaches at Maryland United FC. How received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Bath, is a certified CrossFit Level 1 trainer and holds a certificate in Fitness and Conditioning in Sport.

“I am excited and looking forward to working with the students of St Mary’s and growing the program alongside my coaching staff and the athletics department,” said How. The girls soccer program has a long-standing winning reputation of which I look to continue. St Mary’s is a great school and special community to be a part of, I am grateful for the opportunity. Go Saints!”
