Running Opportunities this fall/winter

Hey Team,

Although our season is over, there are still local races happening here and there. Here is an event out in Howard county that was shared with me from the Bulleye Run Club from Howard County. They had a large presence at the Spalding race and would be very competitive. If you are interested, please send me an email and I will connect you with Coach Lang.

Bullseye Running Club is hosting a cross country meet at Centennial High School in Howard County on Sunday. Coach Lang has said in the past, if St. Mary's Middle School kids want to participate, just let him know. These are pretty competitive meets. Most of the top 10 runners in their age groups go on to run in college. But we have some middle schoolers who can definitely run well with these guys. It is also good for them to have more people of their ability so they can practice race strategy. And there are plenty of slow runners as well -- your runners shouldn't come in last.

You don't need a full team.

The minimum age is 5 years old, I think. 6 years and under run 1000 meters, 7-8 years old run 2000 meters, 9-12 run 3000 meters and 13-14 run 4000 meters. I think 15-18 also run 4000 meters. I think the high shoolers could run since their HS season is over.

And if they want to go to Districts and Nationals, those dates are Nov 16 and Dec 6, respectively.

Another 5k run in the area is November 30th at Kinder Farm Park. It's put on by the Bullseye Timing Company and is a fundraiser for the St. Mary's Basketball Program. Find more information here:

Here is the link on my page for the boys basketball 5k, St. Mary’s Boys Basketball Annual 5K Run and 1-Mile Fun Run – Bullseye Running.

* From that link they have an events tab that will show more running opportunities for those athletes looking to stay running from now until track season.

If you have any questions, please send me an email.
