This camp is a non-competitive, co-ed summer camp connecting children to nature and the Bay. Led by St. Mary’s High School faculty mentors, Paul O'Hearn and Pamela Demske, campers explore forests, streams, and the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Located on a beautiful tributary of the Chesapeake Bay, St. Mary's Watershed and Beyond inspires campers to have a greater understanding of themselves, their environment, and their fellow man. Unplugged from television, video games, and cell phones, campers have a chance to reconnect with nature, learn their own strengths, and find their inner voice. Every day at St. Mary's Watershed, bright, curious, and creative campers thrive in "Nature's Classroom" as they learn from a community where ideas, creativity, and discovery are celebrated. A wide variety of activities such as nature hiking, kayaking, seining, outdoor skills, environmental science, fishing, art and role-play activities foster life time learning skills. Unique to our activities is our proximity to Quiet Waters Park for hiking and nature walks. The signature activity of the camp experience is the mentor hike. Campers will also explore connections with local foods and farmer's markets. Our farm to "camp" program is just one of our many efforts in sustainable leadership. Our partnership with Leave no Trace provides campers with guidelines for low impact camping.
