Saints Support Capital Gazette

Current and former members of the St. Mary's High School varsity swim team, led by head coach Allyson Reiter, gathered recently to create hand-made rosaries for the Capital Gazette family.
Reiter is the current Capital Gazette high school boys swimming coach of the year. The rosaries were blessed by Father Andy Costello of St. Mary's Catholic Church. The rosaries were presented to Capital Gazette sportswriter Bill Wagner, a 1983 St. Mary's High graduate, who distributed them across the Capital Gazette team and their families. Letters of gratitude and messages of appreciation from the swimmers accompanied the rosaries.
Dave Gendell, founder of SpinSheet Magazine and a former employee of the Capital Gazette circulation department, spearheaded the project. Gendell is the father of a St. Mary's girls swimmer.

“We are praying for you,” Reiter said in one of the letters. “Please accept these rosaries as a physical reminder of our continued prayers.”
