Alfombras de Asserín Project

Our students are exposed to new things and pushed out of their comfort zone everyday. It's truly fascinating to watch them dive into a project and the results are spectacular!
Recently, our students participated in the creation process of the Alfombras de Asserín which translates to Sawdust Carpets.  These are modeled off the Alfombras created in Guatemala and Central America during Semana Santa, the week before Easter.  While we used sawdust you may also see these carpets made of flowers especially in Spain.  The Easter processions, which are like nothing I have ever seen, then proceed along the carpeted route during Semana Santa.  They are works of love.

"I could not have done this project without Bethany Love's help and advice and patience and support.  She and her B block students were terrific in helping my students and me see this to fruition.  Muchas Gracias!" says Kathy Norwood.

Many of our students were able to walk past the Alfombras on Tuesday and see this amazing display of our talented students.
