St. Mary's High School Celebrates Capital Gazette 2019 High School Outstanding Student Achievers

The following students were named Capital Gazette 2019 High School Outstanding Student Achievers from St. Mary's High School:

Student Name: Mia Haschert
 
Mia Haschert demonstrates a high degree of integrity, challenge and drive. She displays a pleasant, cheerful disposition in the classroom while tackling the most difficult course load at St. Mary’s. Mia has high energy and drive which pairs well with her high level of achievement in and outside the classroom. Mia rally’s various classmates and teammates to build strong spirited teams. Mia is a member of many organizations: NHS, SADD, STEM, Classics Club, Junior Civitan and Varsity Field Hockey to name just a few.
 
Exceptional Success related to Performing Arts
Student Name: Samantha Esterling
 
Samantha Esterling projects energy and enthusiasm in all she does. Sammie is highly talented, trained and committed to her performing arts, school and clubs. She inspires confidence and shows us the joy in performing with each musical and performance.  Sammie is very creative and can turn ideas into reality. She is a member the following clubs; SADD, Leaders in Action, Travis Manion Foundation, Lemon Club that helps provide Childhood Cancer Awareness. Sammie routinely performs in our High School Musicals and performs with The Talent Machine. Sammie’s incredible drive and industrious spirit make her a joy to watch on stage.
 
 
Outstanding Citizenship
Student Name: Josh Gaeng
 
Josh Gaeng possesses many valued personal traits. It is no wonder his teachers recognized him for the Citizenship Award. Josh displays grace and a strong moral character that permeates all he does for others. He excels in relating to others and is an empathetic listener. Josh shows sincere interest in helping those around him at any given time. He is highly regarded by his classmates and teachers. Josh leads a Youth Group at Sacred Heart Church for 7th and 8th graders. He assists with Vacation Bible School, various soup kitchens, and is a member of our Hope for Healing Club dedicated to Cancer Survivors.  He is committed to excellence in the classroom, on the soccer field and helping others.
