iPad Program

In December of 2013 we enthusiastically announced the rollout of the St. Mary's 1:1 iPad Program. Each day, students in grades 9-12 come to school with personal iPads to instantly access educational resources, produce authentic content, and collaborate with peers and experts. The opportunity for students to have access to such a powerful educational tool on a consistent basis has only enriched the learning experiences at St. Mary's.

We are truly excited about the increased access to information, educational resources, and creative possibilities this program will offer our students. Watch the video below to see how students are already using these tools to enhance their learning experiences at St. Mary's.

21st Century Saints

Why are we using iPads in the classroom?

We have determined iPads are the best learning device for the following reasons:
  • variety of apps to meet individual students' learning and productivity needs
  • its capacity as an eReader for digital texts
  • its capacity for digital handwriting
  • more portable, less expensive than laptops
  • less of a face-to-face barrier than laptops
  • instantaneous access
  • long battery life (10-hr with full charge)
  • intuitive interface
  • it is the dominant device already chosen by our students and is becoming ubiquitous in education
  • our teachers and students have been using iPads from our school carts since September 2013 and are very comfortable with implementation opportunities iPads offer in the classroom

Program Specifics

  • Every student in grades 9-12 is required to bring an iPad to school eacy day.
