Young Apostles - High School Youth Ministry

Young Apostles: High School Youth Ministry

“This is what is needed: a Church for young people, which will know how to speak to their heart, and enkindle, comfort, and inspire enthusiasm in it with the joy of the Gospel and the strength of the Eucharist…” (St. Pope John Paul II, 1995)

What is Young Apostles: High School Youth Ministry? We are a Eucharist-centered ministry at St. Mary’s Church, leading teenagers and their families into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. With the Blessed Virgin Mary as our intercessor and guide, we provide opportunities for young people to grow in their faith, find fellowship with peers, serve others in our community with love and care, and discover the fullness of the Sacramental power present within the young Church!
We meet Sunday evenings after the 5pm Youth Mass, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm in Seelos Hall at St. John Neumann Church. We begin our evening with pizza, and enjoy social time, prayer, discussions, and other faith-based activities. Together we support each other and learn how to put our faith into practice. We also plan regular social, service, spiritual, and community building events to connect more fully with each other, those in need, our own families and St. Mary’s community, as well as other teens from near and far away places.
Young Apostles Youth Ministry meets the required preparation by the Archdiocese of Baltimore for high school students not attending Catholic school and planning to be confirmed through St. Mary’s Church. High school teens seeking Confirmation must be enrolled in our Young Apostles program both the year before and the year of Confirmation in order to meet Archdiocesan Confirmation guidelines. To register, complete the registration form and submit it to Natalie Pronio,, St. Mary’s Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, who will also be willing to answer any questions.

Every Sunday evening at 5 p.m., St. John Neumann holds a Youth Mass. All families, particularly those with middle school and high school students, are encouraged to attend, and are encouraged to actively participate in the liturgy as altar servers, lectors, musicians, etc. If you would like to help with the Youth Mass, please contact Barbara Rolland at 410-990-4025 or Natalie Pronio at 410-990-4041.
