LIFELONG FAITH FORMATION
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28: 19-20).
The importance of a Catholic Christian’s lifelong faith formation – or catechesis, a Greek word simply meaning resounding the Good News of Jesus Christ – was emphasized by Pope John Paul II when he wrote, “You can be sure that if catechesis is done well in your local churches, everything else will be easier to do.”
Guided first and foremost by sacred scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the General Directory for Catechesis, here at St. Mary’s Parish we have accepted the responsibility as disciples of Christ to teach as Jesus did, thereby offering faith formation for parishioners of all ages.
Over the years, our faith formation has also been influenced by the Redemptorist spirituality of our Parish’s founders that sees God in the ordinary experiences of our everyday lives throughout the week. “Ours is an Incarnational, very human and holistic spirituality” said Father Patrick Woods, C.Ss.R.
All are welcome to seek a closer encounter with God through our many opportunities for personal and family faith enrichment described here on our parish website.
