Ms. Joan Brady - Chair
As Chair of the Fine Arts Department Ms. Brady has been with St. Mary's since 2005. She possesses an excellent working knowledge of many art media and techniques and teaches Art I, Ceramics I and II, Honors Art I and II, and AP Studio Art. Ms. Brady Received a B.A. degree from Mount Holyoke College, Massachusetts where she received the Phi Beta Kappa Prize in Art and an M.A. degree from the Notre Dame of Maryland University. She studied at the Schuler School of Fine Arts, with Matthew Zoll, and Baltimore Clayworks in Baltimore, Maryland. She is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association, Maryland Federation of Art, Anne Arundel County Arts Council, and Annapolis Arts Alliance.
Joan Brady’s paintings are found throughout the Mid-Atlantic region in the form of murals, trompe l’oeil, and framed works. Clients include the Henry DuPont Winterthur Museum, Delaware; and The Hotel Hershey, Pennsylvania. She has appeared on Lifetime Television, and her work has been published in Better Homes and Gardens magazine, among many others. She won the Maryland Wine Festival Poster competition and was awarded a Summer Residential Art Fellowship at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. She served as a materials consultant at the James Fitzgerald Legacy and was a guest lecturer at the Monhegan Museum on Monhegan Island, ME.
