English as a Second Language
St. Mary’s English as a Second Language (ESL) Program is designed to help newcomers to the Annapolis area meet their everyday English speaking, listening, reading and writing needs. The program also provides parishioners and other volunteers with the opportunity to offer educational services to new immigrants in the local community. Since its inception in 2002, the Program has grown to some 150 students, primarily Hispanic, with 50 volunteer teachers and mentors. Newcomers interested in learning more about the program are encouraged to contact the Coordinator. Anyone interested in volunteering with the Program or who knows of a student who might benefit from the English-language instruction should contact the Coordinator for further details.
